Ho Ho Home Renovation Continues

Got A LOT accomplished at the house over the past 2 weeks, first floor kitchen is juuust about done! Weekends of 12/11 and 12/18

Started moving appliances in!

Garrit came to visit, we put him right to work :-)

I document, while the boys do the heavy lifting.

Meanwhile upstairs, Darius took it upon himself to open his xmas gift...cracked out on cat nip in this photo.

Time to make some room in the basement, for constructing the concrete counter tops...more demo and dust, YAY!

Busting down the old coal bins in the basement, to make room for the work table. Who needs a hammer?!?!

Found some pretty sweet, old antique tools behind the walls. Check out this 100 year old level that we found, still level too!

This is where we will make the concrete counter tops, this is also where the coal bins used to be.

The boys made some test patches.

After the color samples dried...we liked the first 2 best. Not yet polished.

Hope to get the concrete counter tops poured into the forms this week, so that they can dry when we are all home for the holidays. Just a few more steps, and the 1st floor kitchen will be DONE!! Hopefully Juuust in time for Kendall's 30th Birthday Party/ Kitchen Unveiling Extravaganza!!

It was a BIG weekend for Kendall and Dimitri's kitchen...finishing touches on the dry-walling, primed and painted, hardwood flooring went down...and cabinets were purchased!

12/4 Weekend...Wknd #5- HARDWOOD!

ALMOST DONE!

And, complete...beautiful!

Kendall had finally had it with all the dust, she packed up and left Dimitri under the cover of night- all he has left to love is his precious, precious floor.

We are either going to install cabinets, or add some mirrors and a disco ball. DANCE FLOOR!!

Saunders Tree!

Zooey is very proud, she put this tree up herself!

Survived another week! Cabinets have been started, and if all goes to plan, kitchen complete before Xmas...and then on to the Saunder's bathroom renovation...woo hoooo!

End of November- 1 month down!

So, we have survived our first month of home renovations...we've gotten a LOT done, and bonus- we still have all of our limbs and eyebrows!! Woo hoo!

Sue and Tony make their second appearance, taking care of some unruly branches. Watch the lines dad!

Bri starts on the bathroom vanity for the top unit- that's the next project...thank god!!

And again, Darius doesn't lift a paw to help. No, no Darius..you just relaaaaax.

Yup, Bri trusts me with a drill. Hanging some window fixtures- this would have taken a normal person 10 minutes, took me all day!

Don't worry, the weekend's weren't all work. We took a break for a delicious Thanksgiving feast, courtesy of Melissa's work! See you all next weekend- HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM SCISSOR KICK FLIPPING!

House Reno- Weekend 3

Wknd 3- (11/14/2010)

Slightly less productive weekend that the last two-  but we are at a bit of a stand still until we purchase a truck...which Kendall and Dimitri are having a SUPER fun time shopping for. Long story short- they wasted 6 hours at a used car lot in Haverhill, and were a denied an offer on a "crime scene vehicle". So, maybe next week on the truck :-)

We did, however, get a lot of cleaning done...set up the laundry room, Bri did some work to the shop, and we intalled some fixtures...and various et ceteras . Oh yeah, and we inrtduced the cat to the dogs!! EPIC.

                                           Installed new light fixtures in the living room- yup.

A little husband/wife team work...building the door, from scratch, out of junk wood from the kitchen demo

This is what Melissa looks like when she is mortising a door, oh yeah.

After- refurbished wood from the kitchen- used to make a sweet, multi-colored shop door!

 

 

Umm...Darius learned how to do this.

We set up the black and white photo corner in the Saunders suite.

Doggy/Kitty Introduction...now, total besties

And we cap off the weekend with some (much needed) beers......cheers to a productive next weekend, and to getting the 1st kitchen finished!!
